Interventional Radiology has been around since the early 1950s; its popularity increased with better x-ray equipment in the mid-70s. At that time, physicians would cut their own wires and tubing, using steam and other heat sources to shape the tubing for better maneuverability. The late 1970s saw the beginning of commercialising and mass production of guidewires and catheters by innovators, like Bill Cook.
Today, products are defined by each procedure. Areas once thought only to be accessed and repaired by surgery alone are now easier to reach.
Drainage Catheters are used in association with Biliary Ducts, the Gallbladder, the Renal and Gastric systems, as well as abscess drainage and a number of other procedures. With these procedures, comes an inherent issue of accidental catheter dislodgement.
The ((M)) Safety Lock was developed to reduce accidental displacement of the catheter systems listed above. This not only helps care providers, it gives the patient more control in their well being.
The ((M)) Safety Lock saves time and money. It reduces the number of replacement catheters, as well as Interventional Room hours, required to replace accidentally dislodged drainage systems. This product can aid in facilitation of patient flow, as well as a potential reduction in patient wait times.
